viking days
Concept
Viking Days is a family friendly festival celebrating Nordic heritage in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood. The goal is to refresh the brand with unique and memorable visuals and messaging that is cohesive across all platforms.
Challenge
Turn vikings into pirates. They both essentially have the same motivations and goals, and neither are ‘family friendly’. However, pirates are seen as cool, adventurous, and brave, and they appeal to both kids and adults.
Solution
I chose to highlight the Viking gods Freya, Thor, and Loki in clean Swiss style design with black and white illustrations. The copy that goes along with the Viking gods speaks to their mythical background and also sets them apart so that kids can choose which god is their favorite.
AUDIENCE
All ages
Adults interested in bringing their kids to a fun educational event with lots of activities.
Adults with nordic heritage or interest in dressing up, enjoying beer, food, and experiencing the viking encampment.
Kids excited about the roll playing with swords and shields, and pretending they are vikings.
